Rodrigo Bentancur charged over racial slur about Son Heung-min

Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has been charged by the Football Association (FA) over an alleged racial slur

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 over an alleged racial slur about Son Heung-min.

The charge relates to an incident that occurred during Tottenham's Premier League match against Arsenal on January 15, 2023. The alleged slur was reportedly made in the vicinity of the Arsenal bench.

Bentancur has until Monday, February 6, 2023, to respond to the charge. If found guilty, he could face a significant suspension.

The FA has a zero-tolerance policy towards racism and discrimination. In recent years, the FA has introduced a number of measures to combat racism in football, including the introduction of the "Rooney Rule", which requires clubs to interview at least one black, Asian, or minority ethnic (BAME) candidate for any first-team managerial or coaching vacancy.

The FA is committed to ensuring that football is a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. The FA will continue to work with clubs, players, and fans to eradicate racism and discrimination from the game.
